Following on from yesterday’s post we are thinking of ways to reduce your need to visit the surgery.
Sick notes that have been requested and issued will now be posted to your home address. We will bear the expense for this.
With regard to prescriptions:
If you already have a regular pharmacy that collect your repeat script for you this will continue in the usual way. You need to do nothing different and you don’t need to check. If you speak to a Dr and are issued an acute script this will also be sent to your usual pharmacy shop.
If you usually collect your scripts from the reception desk in the surgery, your repeat script and any requests for scripts you make in the future will be dealt with in the following way:
If the first letter of your surname is:
- A-I the script will be sent to Lloyds Pont Newydd 01443 682847
- J-Q the script will be sent to Lloyds Hannah Street 01443 682107
- R-Z the script will be sent to Sheppards (Oakdale) Porth 01443 687068
Please DO NOT ring the surgery to see if the script has been done. We are experiencing high call volumes and this is not necessary.
Please PHONE the pharmacy shop after a reasonable amount of time has passed to see if the script is ready, and to find out the best time to collect it.
Community pharmacists are really under immense pressure during this crisis, and want to also practice social distancing to keep YOU and THEM safe. It does not support this if a lot of people are in the shop at the same time.
It only needs ONE person to collect the script for somebody. DO NOT go in unless you absolutely have to.

Patient Notice - 24th March 2020
I am writing just to update you on the situation in the surgery with regard to Coronavirus and the new advice from the government to only go out if absolutely necessary.
This especially applies to your GP surgery.
It is in YOUR best interest to stay away from the building. We see sick people here, and the virus is probably more likely to be here than anywhere.
We have suggested that you do not attend routine appointments and instead have these consultations by telephone. This is still not happening in some cases, and therefore we are cancelling all face to face routine consultation going forward.
From tomorrow, if you attend the surgery for a routine appointment which has not previously been discussed with a GP you will be turned away.
Routine blood pressure, diabetic and other appointments are non-essential.
You are putting yourself at risk by attending. As those responsible for your health, we are deciding for you that you will not attend as this is what is best for you.
Urgent issues will be dealt with by phone. Please be patient around timings as this phone service will not run strictly to time. But you will be phoned somewhere near your allocated time. Also please be aware you may not speak to the person you booked the call with, but will be dealt with by a GP who is available at that time. Video consultations are also being used, so that if we need to see something e.g a rash then we can.
If in an unusual case we ask you to attend to be seen, then you will be seen. Otherwise you will not be seen.
If you ring for something routine then you will be offered a routine telephone consultation. This may be a few days away.
And finally, I must IMPLORE you to treat our staff with kindness and respect.
We have several staff members off self-isolating, and those that remain are working over and above their normal working hours in extremely stressful conditions.
They are trying to help you. They will be polite and respectful to you and we expect that you treat them the same way.
We appreciate that you are anxious and stressed, but so is everyone else.
We will have a low threshold for dealing with patients who decide to be rude to our staff. We need to work together with you to provide you with the best care that we can at this difficult time.
We will ask you again to stop requesting medication which is over and above what you would normally order. FaceBook posts are not acceptable forms of medical advice and medication requests as a result of these posts continue to take up valuable GP and admin staff time.

Access & Facilities
Our surgery is accessible to patients using a wheelchair and there are parking spaces outside which are reserved for patients displaying a disabled sticker. We are able to facilitate patients with hearing difficulty’s with the assistance of our hearing aid loop facility.
We can arrange interpretation and translation services by phone for patients who do not speak English. Please let us know if you need this service when booking an appointment
There is a pharmacy attached to the building which offers on-site dispensing service.
